JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
Jamie: Yes in the main lobby of the jail when it was
open we had access to pay phones.Although it is
ridiculous to have to make collect calls. Very
rarely could i speak with my family because the
only way you could call was collect unless you
had a phone card
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls?
Jamie: Collect. I would call once a week or less for
only a few minutes. My family did not have the
money to put it on my books so I could not afford
a calling card
JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
Jamie: Yes or collect
JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
Jamie: yes calls were monitored as well as you visits
were monitored. Not to mention all of your mail
was read except legal mail

how do we get our son a phone card so that he can call us without having to call collect? His fater is very ill nad it would help if they could talk often.
