Inmates

Interview with Jamie

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Jamie: No. I was not a child and did not get involved with borrowing money i couldn't pay back or getting in the mix of all of it. Most people if you treat them with respect they leave you alone. There is always drama going in with childlike people fighting and stealing but if you keep to your business most people respect that.

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Jamie: Again don't borrow thing i can pay. If i don't have it I go without. Stay away from different ethnic groups that don't want you around. Basically mind your own business.

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Jamie: No rooms were assigned to you. There was a public area that you could talk with the people you met there. At first I shared a room with an older women who had been there before. She knew the ropes. I borrowed some coffee from her and ended up having to get her some tylenol in return. Nothing is free in jail
